FRENCH CARTOMANCY 101
You've seen them laying around at some point, those cards you watched everyone play poker with. They're allot older than you think. French playing cards actually trace their roots back to the 14th century, when playing cards first made their way into Europe—probably thanks to travelers and traders passing through from Egypt.
However, the French got ahold of them and decided to give them a little twist. They simplified the suits into the ones we know and love: hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. neat,organized , and easy to print. These suits replaced older designs that featured cups, coins, swords, and sticks. By the 15th century, the French deck was gain widespread popularity: numbers 1 through 10 and three royal figures—King, Queen, and Jack (once known as a Knave). It was easy to produce and just felt right, so it spread across Europe and eventually the whole world.
What started as a game turned into a tool of intuition, mystery, and magic. Now, we use these same cards to peek behind the veil, tap into symbols, and decode messages from the Divine. Interesting! f I say so myself..
